Parents of College Students Panic, According to Career Development Book

La Jolla, CA (PRWEB) December 21, 2008

"Most seniors delay their job searches," according to 100 campus counselors across the country. "When they start, they mass-mail resumes blindly. Many students apply online only. They'll do anything to avoid personal rejection."

These findings come from "LAUNCH!...Get That First Paycheck In 90 Days," a new career development book for college seniors. It includes a career assessment that ranks students' job skills against others nationwide.

The career development book is now available at Launch-Your-Career.com to help college seniors and recent graduates successfully begin their careers. It offers job-finding secrets that too few students know about - because no other career development books reveal them. LAUNCH! includes:

A career assessment quiz that shows how the student's job skills and attitudes compare to college seniors nationwide, and what career paths their unique traits suggest.
How to find job openings before they're advertised.
How to triple resume responses.
Proven networking tactics.
How to interview better.
Why Monster.com and Craigslist are time traps for recent graduates.
How a weekend project can make the student a top candidate for their chosen position.
Finally, LAUNCH! outlines a 90 day schedule for getting that first job.

If downloaded from the website in PDF format, this 339 page career development book costs $ 8.63 -- less than the price of a pizza. It's also available as a paperback book (for $ 16.23 - free shipping), an audio CD set (for $ 21.33 - free shipping), or a downloadable MP3 audio book ($ 11.74). An unusual money back guarantee is included -- if any college senior doesn't discover a new job search tactic, boost their resume responses, or learn something about themselves that they didn't know before; they get their money back plus one dollar.

"Unlike those fuzzy lectures and expensive textbooks or seductive student loans, this helps graduates actually find that first job," says LAUNCH! author Gary Sutton, a retired CEO who's been involved in advising, hiring, and firing countless employees during his lengthy career.

"This may be the most important book a college senior ever reads," added Dr. Linda Charles, clinical psychologist and former UCLA staffer.

Anxious students and their nervous parents can even sample the guide before buying by reading a few pages or listening to a brief audio clip at Launch-Your-Career.com.

The career assessment quiz in LAUNCH! can also be taken online at WhoAreYouAnyway.com. It tells college seniors if they'll do better in large or small organizations, among other things. The quiz ranks students' energy, ambition, ethics, status needs, social abilities and fifteen other vocational traits. Results are translated into the best career path.

"Wow! That job quiz nailed me. Without those insights, I'd be waiting tables again," said one Drake grad.

New Book Unravels the Unsolved Tylenol Murders Case

Bordentown, New Jersey (PRWEB) October 13, 2011

On September 29, 1982, seven people in the Chicago area died after taking Tylenol capsules laced with cyanide. Officials quickly surmised that a madman had put the poisoned capsules into Tylenol bottles in local retail stores. However, a new book, The Tylenol Mafia: Marketing, Murder, and Johnson & Johnson, discredits this madman-in-the-retail stores hypothesis, and points instead to a culprit who planted the lethal capsules at a warehouse in the Tylenol distribution system - a system the police did not understand and the media did not investigate.

Scott Bartz, a former J&J insider, spent the past 3 1/2 years researching the Tylenol murders case and writing The Tylenol Mafia. He analyzed over 8,000 documents, met with victims family members, and talked with FBI agents and Chicago-area police officers. He also interviewed the men who were targeted as the prime suspects.

The Daily Herald, a suburban Chicago newspaper that ran a front page story about the book, said it is filled with details about Johnson & Johnson's drug production and distribution process, the relationships and backgrounds of company executives, and newspaper and television reports about the crime. The book also raises suspicion over dozens of incidents, including a bottle of cyanide-laced Tylenol turned in two weeks after the poisonings by the wife of a DuPage County, Illinois judge, and a cyanide poisoning death that occurred in New York in 1986.

Bartz is a stickler for details, notes an article in the Chicago Reader. In the book, Tylenol lot numbers, warehouses, repackaging facilities, distribution channels, and manufacturing processes get traced and tracked. Bartz pays close attention to the exact terminology used by J&J, the FDA, and the FBI. Inconsistencies of statements are noted; what is saidand not saidis important. He also describes the personal and professional allegiances between key players. And he reveals allegations about the current reactivation team thatif even partially truecall the entire endeavor into question.

Jack ODwyer, who has covered the PR industry since 1968 after ten years at two of America's biggest dailies--the Chicago Tribune and New York Journal-American, commented on The Tylenol Mafia after reading an advance copy of the book. I have always found the Tylenol story to be a masterpiece of spin although media have swallowed it as the "Gold Standard" for crisis handling, said ODwyer. He said the PR Society of America as well as major media such as the New York Times, Economist, Fortune and Christian Science Monitor must revisit the Tylenol murders and revise their glowing opinions of how J&J behaved.

The Tylenol Mafia is one of the best pieces of journalism I have ever seen, said ODwyer. All students of PR and journalism should read it.

Book Summary:

The Tylenol Mafia rips away the facade of the investigation that J&J CEO James Burke labeled A demonstration without parallel of government and business working with the news media to help protect the public. This gripping, meticulously documented expose unearths the troubling details of an investigation corrupted by well-connected corporate executives and politically motivated government officials who simply buried the truth inside a shadow legal system inaccessible to everyday Americans.

The Tylenol Mafia is available at online book sellers like Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com, and at some independent book stores.

Christian Minister's New Book Says God Wants You to Be Selfish and Wealthy

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) February 15, 2006

Duke Clarke is a Christian minister with very different views. Raised in the Bible Belt of North Carolina, Clarke just accepted everything he was told about God, the Bible and religion. Then in 1970 he thought he had found a new message among the Jesus movement and the radical religious groups of that time but careful study of the bible revealed something totally different. In fact, unlike the Da Vinci Code, Duke discovered that God reveals truths in the Bible in a very specific way.

In his new book The Way of Prosperity: The 7 Stages of the Prosperous Mind (http://www.thewayofprosperity.com), Clarke presents the concept that God has set up Laws, both biblical and universal, to help all people prosper spiritually and financially. Through the story he exposes a process that anyone can follow to be financially successful while having a rich spiritual connection with God.

Yes, I tell people that God wants them to be selfish and while that shocks many people, it comes directly from the bible, Clarke confirms. In both the Old Testament and the New Testament God says Take heed unto thyself. Most people consider this selfish, but how can I enjoy this life or have anything to offer someone else if I dont take heed to myself first? I also teach that He wants us to be happy and prosperous IN THIS LIFEand not just after we get to heaven. Clarke continues, It seems like a cruel joke to ask people to come to God in order to enjoy peace, victory and a wonderful life and then once they accept, you tell them thats all in heaven. But for now, your life will be filled with trails and sufferingwhat kind of message is that?

The 70s was a time of the Jesus People and religious groups that broke away from the main stream. It was a time when college students like Clarke were willing to stand up to the status quo and ask Is this all there is? There has to be more to life than just accepting what my parents believed! For the next 17 years Clarke worked as an ordained minister inside a Christian organization until there was a power struggle and split which resulted in the end of his relationship with the organization.

One day the group that had employed me for 17 years came to reclaim all their parsonage furniture. I sat on the living room floor that night alone, wondering what was ahead. I was 39 years old with a wife and 3 young children. I had about $ 1,000 dollars in the bank and a 10 year old car, Clarke remembers. My rent was $ 1300 a month at the time, so I figured we were about 3 weeks from being homeless. In case you havent looked lately there arent a lot of jobs for ex-ministers whose church doesnt want him.

I went to work immediately to provide for my family and God did some wonderful things for us in those days, Clarke recounts. There at the bottom I realized two things. First I was not going to give up on God; I knew that there was information in the Bible that would show me what to do if I could figure it out. The second thing I realized was that I had to get rid of a lot of wrong thinking and wrong teaching, clear my mind and start all over.

And start over he did. Clarke spent the next ten years carefully studying and dissecting the bible and its teachings. What he discovered was not only life altering but caused his faith to be redoubled. Clarke then spent the next 10 years applying and proving the principles hed discovered.

Now, almost 20 years later Clarkes income is almost 10 times what it was when he was left sitting on the living room floor and continues to grow each year. He and his wife have one son who has graduated from college and is doing extremely well in the corporate world and another son who just started college. When my oldest son started college, Clarke remembers we were just getting on our feet and that meant loans and a lot of work. But now when my youngest sons tuition was due it was only a matter of writing a check.

None of this happened over night, Clarke states. I had years of financially repressive teaching and incorrect beliefs that I had to change. You can take no external action until youve first taken it in your mind and my mind was a mess. Think about all the automatic actions you take, breathing, walking, and blinking. Your life is automatic based on your education and beliefs, and I needed new beliefs in order to prosper Clarke continues.

Most churches have furthered unhealthy beliefs about wealth and Christianity which has resulted in great confusion and guilt. Clarke has discovered that while there are many wealthy Christians, most of them are made to feel guilty about their position by the churches they attend and support. It is time that all Christians finally understand what God really intended for them financially here on earth. You should happily reap the benefit of your rewards now as well as in heaven, declares Clarke.

It took me almost ten years to dig my way out of unhealthy beliefs and start on a new road. Today I teach people how to do that in months not years. What I live by and what I teach today is the practical application of Gods Laws both biblical and universal for personal and professional success. I dont teach religion, dogmas, warm and fuzzy feelings or theory. Your personal relationship with God is your business. I teach Gods Laws that work, Laws that I have applied in my own life that get results now. The most important thing I discovered is that you dont even have to be a Christian or even have a belief in God for the laws to work. They work because God loves everyone unconditionally and applies his laws to everyone equally.

Clarkes book is for anyone who desires to live abundantly but fears that it will corrupt their spiritual life. It reveals the truth about wealth and abundance for those who simply want to reach their full potential in the most ethical and moral way.
