The 2nd Annual American Pole Fitness Championships (A Pole Dancing Sport Event), Special Guest Stars, 6-13 Year Old Kids In Aerial & Pole Performance

The American Pole Fitness Championships (APFC) will be held on October 14, 2011 at the Manhattan Center, located at 311 West 34th Street, New York City. The star-studded gala will be heralded by TV personality Jenna Morasca of CBS TV hit series, sole winner, Survivor and the newly launched Everyday Health TV show. The actress, an avid pole fitness practitioner herself, will be joined by New Yorks very own Comedian Mona Cooper who will be returning for the 2nd time to MC the event.


Among the guest performers are 7 kids, 6-13 year old pole and aerial artists accompanied by their parents and teacher. They will dazzle the audience with their pole and acrobatic skills. It will be a first in the history of the sport normally reserved for adults. The affair is being billed as a family friendly event, welcoming kids of all ages. Kids under 13 years of age are allowed free admittance to the event.


American Pole Fitness Association (APFA) is working towards achieving broad demographic & national recognition for pole fitness as a mainstream sport, focusing attentions on the physical skills, gravity-defying technical abilities, poise, grace and elegance of performers. APFA is an association established to educate and promote the art and sport of pole fitness in the United States and abroad and a prominent part of the International Pole Fitness Federation.


APFA is the brainchild of fashion model turned singer-songwriter/entrepreneur Tinu. Tinu holds a degree in Finance and Marketing from the NYU, Stern School of Business. She is the publisher of the highly successful glossy magazine, Pole Spin, dedicated to the sport worldwide and the first and only to gain national and international retail distribution for the publication, available at such prominent retail outlets such as Barnes & Nobles bookstores. She is working on releasing her first book (Nov 1, 2011) and a shoe themed magazine for Shoeholics Club, a shoe admirers social network website. Pole Spin magazine will be celebrating its one-year anniversary at the championships after party and using the opportunity give back through its charity initiative drive, Pole For A Cause. A portion of the sales of the magazine at the event will be donated to the HIV infected kids at Toto Love Foundation and American Cancer Societys Making Strides in honor or Breast Cancer Awareness.

URAC Seeks Public Comment on Performance Measures for Health Plan Accreditation

URAC, a leading health care accreditation and education organization, today opened a call for public comment to share input and opinions on proposed performance measures being added to its Health Plan suite of standards.


Purchasers, policy makers, consumers, health care management organizations, employers, and health plans are encouraged to provide their comments on the proposed URAC standards at http://www.urac.org/publiccomment/. The deadline for public comment is 6:00pm EDT on May 20, 2011.


URAC understands that performance measures lead to greater transparency and increased consumer empowerment, said Alan Spielman, President and CEO of URAC. Our goals in this development will be to focus on measures that are meaningful and relevant for consumers, health plans, and purchasers; promote quality improvement, efficiency and effectiveness in the health care delivery system; and develop the most comprehensive view of quality while balancing administrative burdens and the benefits of reporting performance to the public.


Consistent with URACs standards development process, performance measure selection and development is done collaboratively with multiple stakeholders working though a multi-stage process that includes public comment.
